| On Friday 27 September 2024, kois-optics and Stavros Kois hosted the official guests of anima syros film festival at the Kois mansion. Stavros Kois gave the guests a tour of the mansion and told them about its history. Last year university professor Pavlos Hatzigrigoriou presented the Augmented Reality (AR) application that is implemented by the University of the Aegean and draws inspiration from the imposing ceiling of the majestic salon of the old urban house. As Pavlos Hatzigrigoriou from the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering of the University of the Aegean informs us: "Using the camera of a tablet, we can discover in some corners of the living room digital characters talking to each other, such as Hermes and Kolokotronis, who have both descended from above and have come to life, and are now discussing how it is possible to be together in the same painting. In another corner appear the Prosecutor and the Prefect, two heroes taken from M. Somewhere else we see the great-grandmother of the Koi family and Vafeiadakis, the longest serving mayor of the neoclassical Ermoupolis, discussing what it was like for refugees to come from Chios two hundred years ago and to be given the opportunity to lay new foundations and become great in this place. Through these tales, the visitor gets a good taste of what Ermoupolis might have been like in the time of its great prosperity and acquires an essential first impression of the character and history of the island".
This year this application was enriched by a very innovative game.54 intrepid explorers recently discovered the mysteries of Kois Mansion, guided by a captivating mobile game developed by ISD Lab of the University of the Aegean (Prof. Spyros Vosinakis, Dr. Pavlos Chatzigrigoriou, & Marilena Tzortzaki). The game, filled with intriguing questions and challenges, led players on an interactive journey to discover the secrets hidden within the historic walls. 12 players successfully solved the mystery, demonstrating their keen observation skills and puzzle-solving abilities. Two exceptional players emerged victorious, claiming their well-deserved prizes: a limited edition pair of "orophographia" sunglasses and an unforgettable weekend getaway in the luxurious Kois Mansion Loft in Syros. The event at Kois Mansion serves as a testament to the growing influence of mobile technology in shaping the future of cultural experiences. As technology continues to advance, we can anticipate even more innovative and engaging ways to interact with our historical and cultural landmarks. |
